Both Bermuda and Monaco, though separated by the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, catch the attention of tourists with their startling blue waters and beautiful beaches. Now these two idyllic locations have something else in common — ocean science. This June, two scientists from the Centre Scientifique de Monaco (CSM) traveled to the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) to collaboratively study coral reefs.

What college student wouldn't want to spend part of their summer vacation in idyllic Bermuda? For the fifteen members of this year's Princeton University (PU) marine biology class, the time spent at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) was more than just a day at the beach.  In late May, the sophomore and junior Princeton students arrived at sunny BIOS -- a far cry from the brick and mortar, Ivy League backdrop they’re used to in New Jersey. Here, they get the chance to experience the uniqueness involved with living and working at a scientific research institute.

Third Nippon Foundation-POGO Centre of Excellence Class Graduates

The third class of POGOnian graduates headed home at the end of May and the year four trainees will arrive at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) later this summer. The NF-POGO Centre of Excellence in Ocean Observations (CofE) at BIOS is a 10-month program designed to educate and expand observational oceanography around the world by offering training and experience to scientists from developing countries.
